Beautiful people - Iiris
I'm starting this new column to introduce you all the most fascinating people I meet either during my trips or just in Life<3
The first person I wanted to interview for this column is an Estonian singer named Iiris. Every time Estonian music comes up, she's the first one I talk about cause I think she has a truly bright future ahead of her.
I first saw Iiris in a singing competition when she was only 16 years old and instantly recognized this special something in her that I've only seen in a couple of people in my life. She is full of magic, reminding me of all of my favorite female artists like Kate Bush and Bjork.
I love watching her grow as an artist and as a woman and have always considered her a little sister of some sort. After all she's all about ethereal stuff and unicorns and kittens mixed with some creepy flavors. I'd have to say she's kinda BubbleGothtastic!!!
Check out Iirises music, videos and the photo gallery and get your hands on her debut album "The Magic Gift Box" available on iTunes now.
Occupation: Singer/Songwriter/Part-Time Wizard
5 random words that describe me: I, nothing, everything, music-lover, cat-wizard
Favorite thing about yourself: My ass, ha! That and my f'ing soul.
My biggest challenge: Fighting fear, living in love, constantly proving to myself that I create the world I live in, which for me gives a sense that I can just trust the Universe and not worry. At best I feel like life is like a game, I want to let go of the boundaries made by my limited mind (but for that I need fearlessness which i have not yet required). That feeling for me is magical, but it is a challenge to stay in that feeling.
Words I live by: "Expect nothing, prepare for everything"
If you are depressed you are living in the past.
If you are anxious you are living in the future.
If you are at peace you are living in the present.
- Lao Tzu
There is no reality except the one contained within us. That is why so many people live such an unreal life. They take the images outside them for reality and never allow the world within to assert itself.
- Hermann Hesse
5 years ago I was: A teenager who wanted to be captured by aliens, had a lot of complexes and big dreams. Had a fire but lot's of inner demons (mostly fear) to fight and embrace. I was afraid of people and myself. I'm still half-introverted and sometimes this unexplainable fear against people kicks in. I felt most comfortable alone and on stage (because I thought that it is the only place where it is okay and expected of you to express oneself). Didn't get what I wanted, but got what I needed. I was a bit lost, but extremely lucky and I'm grateful for that.
In 5 years I'm gonna be whatever I wanna be! You never know though, what you're really gonna want in five years and what is best for you, so I'm leaving that magical door open. Maybe I'll be a rapper. Yep, maybe that.
What makes someone beautiful: Their rich inner-world. I like hungry people. Hungry for life. Hungry for creativity. I like people with strong personalities.
